Favorite TV Shows Of 2016

As a fan of Philip K. Dick, this was a must see. Some will argue it's a little slow, and it is at times. But when you have Frank Spotnitz on-board, it's worth watching. Very Good.

Unlike The Flash, which I gave up on. It was too repetitive. I stuck with this right through to the end. It might be because the leading character is female. And she has a good pair of shoulders on her! While the format is pretty similar to the Flash, there's endless opportunities here to introduce other characters that Supergirl can team up with to defeat the bad guys. Why did the Flash have to come from another Earth? Why not have him on the same Earth? It would be nice to see her go elsewhere on the planet, other than have the stories take place in the same city all the time. Hopefully, they'll expand on this universe in future seasons. Very Good!

Last season was okay. Didn't enjoy it as much as the ones that went before. There seemed to be something missing from it. But this season has definitely redeemed my faith in the show. Not sure how many seasons it has left to run until it outstays its welcome, but hopefully when the final season rolls, we'll get to see Francis Underwood's world crumble around him. Very Good!

Haven't watched Homeland, but Damian Lewis seems to be on a roll at the moment. This is one of those shows that sucks you in from the second it kicks off. Just take a look at the opening scene in the first epsiode as an example. There's so much to like here, from the writing, especially the writing, to the performances. The cast is awesome, and Paul Giamatti is in his element playing Chuck Rhoades. Excellent!

Didn't think they could top the first season, but they did with this. The inclusion of Elektra, The Punisher, and the return of the scary Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk really made this worth watching. Could there be a Punisher spin-off series? Let's hope so. Hopefully, Elektra will make a return at some point. Really hope to see some cross-over episodes and story lines in the future. Excellent!

Having enjoyed season one, this was a must see. And it didn't disappoint. The episodes fly by, and before you know it, you've reached the end. Hopefully, they'll continue making these. It's a gritty show, not as intense as True Detective, but keeps you glued to the screen. And it's based on a series of novels. Going off on a tangent, Lance Reddick would make a great Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz). Very Good!

A drug induced, paranoid hacker! As far as originality goes, this hits all the right spots. From the casting, right through to the music. One of the best shows that's ever been on TV. Rami Malek (Short Term 12) does a fantasic job portraying the main character. Excellent!
Picture
Wow! Tom Hiddleston is James Bond. What more can be said? From the moment it starts, this was gripping, and it doesn't let you go. And Hugh Laurie's performance as the callous Roper is top notch. A sequel? Never! Certain stories should be left alone. Excellent!

So good to see this return after so long. And having six new episodes to test the water was a good start. While some, especially the opener felt a little stagnant, the third episode was in classic X-Files territory. Looking forward to seeing what plans Chris Carter has for upcoming episodes. Excellent!
